Introducing New Artist-- Joseph Dermody
At The Perfect Provenance, we love introducing new artists to our clients and community, we are proud to be featuring the work of Greenwich based artist Joseph Dermody as part of our Haute Bohemia exhibit. His abstract work is a perfect addition to our store & cafe. You can view all of his work currently on display here.
- When did you start painting, how would you describe your artistic viewpoint? I started painting and sculpting in 2009, for a local exhibit here in Greenwich. My viewpoint is captured by movement and layers. It can be external/physical, internal/emotional, or non physical/musical. I either capture movement in a still image, or try to keep that energy moving on the canvas/sculpture.
- You have so many talents and interests, what is your favorite -- music, art etc...I’ve always loved building things, and that’s what has always driven me as a musician, and in turn and artist. When I play in the symphony, or my quartet, I’m exponentially inspired to create art. My goal is to have them simultaneously created in future projects, however that may be.
- Where are you from & how did you choose to live in Greenwich. I grew up in Rhode Island, with a lot of time spent in upstate NY. I finished my Master of Music Performance at SUNY Purchase and started my career as a performer/educator here in Greenwich, 15 years ago. I enjoy the small town feel, being close to the ocean, and it’s proximity to the city.
